Lord's Taverners Australia. Peel Region WA logoPeel Branch of Lord’s Taverners Australia continues to give local young people in need a sporting chance. This is the third year Lord’s Taverners has been contributing cricket kits to junior cricket clubs from throughout the Peel Region to enable disadvantaged young people access cricket that many families take for granted. Including this year 60 cricket kits have been handed out.

President of Lord’s Taverners Barrie Hudson commented, “We are very proud each year to be able to raise funds through our events and raffle to support local young people who would otherwise not get the opportunity. We were moved to hear stories during the presentation of this year’s twenty cricket kits to learn about the difference they had made in the lives of many young people.”

This year we also supported the Integrated Cricket Program for young people with a disability:

Wade Felton proud supporter of Integrated Cricket Program of the Peel Branch

Through a partnership with the Peel Cricket Board the Peel Branch of Lord’s Taverners Australia has supported the establishment of an Integrated Cricket Program in the Peel Region by donating eight cricket kits.

Wade Felton of Total Fitness Solutions, and a member of the Committee of Lord’s Taverners, supported the effort and worked with suppliers to increase the value of the kits from $250 each to over $400.

“I am pleased to be part of something that is giving back to the community. Sport is a great tool to help young people become the best they can be and all young people should be provided that opportunity. If I can help in a small way in supporting the work of Lord’s Taverners then I am honoured to do that,” said Wade Felton.

The Integrated Cricket Program was launched this year with programs established at Warnbro Swans Cricket Club and Secret Harbour Dockers Cricket Club. The program is designed for people aged 16 to 35 years old with a disability who want to get involved in cricket for the first time in their life. Qualified coaches are on the scene to assist in developing skills in a safe and inclusive community club environment. All experience levels are welcome and equipment is provided.
